UKRANIAN MONUMENTS AND MEMORIALS DESTROYED BY RUSSIA DURING THE WAR

Since August 2022, more precisely since 24 August (Ukraine's Independence Day), the Memorial's social media accounts have been publishing texts about various monuments and memorials in Ukraine dedicated to the victims of political repression and the Holodomor.
One of the important meanings of the Declaration of Independence was to break with the values of the repressive Soviet state and to rethink the difficult past of Soviet terror.
Ukraine has been doing a lot of remembrance work since the late 1980s, but today many monuments and memorials have been bombed, destroyed and some have been deliberately dismantled or destroyed by the Russian occupation authorities under the idea that everything was fine in the USSR, there was no repression and you are reminding us of something that did not really happen. In fact, this project is not only about working with memory and the past, but also about the present.
